To finish up this series of blog articles, based on Stormie Omartian’s book “The Power of a Praying Husband”, I will focus on the area of motherhood. One obvious and interesting point about motherhood is God allows only women to give birth. As a husband, you are called to sympathize with your wife as being the mother God wants her to be and to intentionally pray for her.
There are two important areas to pray for your wife as a mother. One area is a peace she can experience raising the children with God’s help. Another important area is to ask God to show her what a beautiful expression of love and devotion she is to you and your children.
As her husband try to empathize with her struggles and pray for her when she experiences:
-
Guilt over not being the one teaching the child about life and missed moments with the children.
-
The reality of having less time physically to do the full job she wants or has been called to do.
-
Not having enough resources to provide all that she longs to do for your children.
Make sure you to try to focus your prayers that she will have wisdom and discernment in instructing and disciplining the children, guidance in doing her role as a mother, giving her peace in knowing she’s not alone, and how to pray for specifically for each child.
Stormie Omartian shared: “Often the greatest miracles happen to those who are desperate for one.” (p. 67). My encouragement for you is you will pray over your wife daily so God can bless you and her abundantly!
