In Stormie Omartian’s book, entitled “The Power of a Praying Husband” she points out three top areas of prayer wives expressed needing prayer in: their spiritual lives, their emotions and motherhood.

This writing will focus on the area of praying for their spiritual lives.  I was reminded of my role as spiritual head of my home and how important it is my prayers.  The author referred to the first sin that has since affected our relationship with our creator.  As noted in Genesis 3, Satan approaches the woman with a distortion of God’s truth.  Eventually Eve and Adam, thus the whole home, give into temptation and subsequently damage their relationships with God and each other.  The author references Luke 10:19 as she emphasized the importance of praying for the spiritual life of our wife.  If Adam had been faithful in prayer for his wife’s living according to God’s truths and remaining strong in face of temptation, I wonder how much more likely she would have remained faithful to God.

Following are a few suggestions for prayer as noted by the author:

Pray that your wife “will be so solid in the truth that she can immediately identify a lie of the enemy, cast it aside, and listen only to the voice of God.”

Pray that your wife will possess and exhibit the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)

Pray that your wife will grow in their knowledge and application of God’s word.

Pray that your wife will honor God by living/loving like Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Pray that she will be a light to all around her, including in your home.

Pray she will know God’s will and live in accordance to it.
